Getting Started¶
Opening the POS — Cashier Login
Open a web browser and navigate to your NightPOS URL. The cashier login screen appears automatically with two login modes:

Tip
For daily cashier use, set up staff PIN accounts via Point of Sale → Configuration → Employees. PINs are faster to enter on a touchscreen.
Back-Office (Admin) Login
For configuration, reporting, and settings, use the Normal tab with your admin credentials. Admin access is intended for configuration and reporting only. For day-to-day cashiering, use a dedicated cashier PIN account.
Staff Login Types¶
NightPOS supports two types of staff accounts:
Manager / Admin — full access to settings, reports, and all modules
Cashier PIN — restricted to POS sales only; no access to configuration
POS Dashboard
After logging in, you land on the NightPOS home screen showing all available apps. Click Point of Sale to manage registers.
The POS Dashboard shows all configured registers with their current status:
Open Register — no session is running; click to create a new session and set the opening cash balance
Continue Selling — a session is already active; click to resume

POS Screen Overview¶

Adding Products to an Order¶
Tap a category tab on the product grid to filter products.
Tap a product tile — it is added to the order with quantity 1.
To change quantity: tap the order line, then use the numpad or press + / −.
To remove a line: select it and press the delete key or reduce quantity to 0.
Modifiers & Variants¶
Some products have modifiers (e.g., size, add-ons). When added to an order, a popup appears for you to select the variant options before confirming.
Discounts & Price Changes¶
Apply a percentage discount or a fixed price override on any order line.
Manager PIN may be required for discounts above a configured threshold.
Payment¶
Tap Payment (purple button, bottom-right).
Select the payment method: Cash, Card, QR Code, or Split.
For cash payments, enter the amount tendered — the system calculates change automatically.
Tap Validate to complete the transaction and print the receipt.
Receipts¶
Receipts are printed automatically after payment validation.
Customers can also receive a digital receipt by email if their email is on record.
Reprints are available via Orders.
Cancelling & Refunds¶
Cancel an order (before payment)
Select the order and tap Delete Order or reduce all quantities to zero.
Refund a paid order
Go to Orders and find the original transaction.
Tap Return and select which items to refund.
Choose the refund method and confirm.
Closing a POS Session¶
Open the hamburger menu (☰) and tap Close.
Enter the actual closing cash count.
Review the session summary (sales, payments, discrepancies).
Tap Close Session to finalize.
Table & Floor Management (Restaurant Mode)¶
NightPOS includes full restaurant management with an interactive floor plan:
Drag-and-drop floor plan editor — design your dining area layout
Color-coded table status — Available, Occupied, Reserved
Order splitting and merging — flexible for large parties
Course-based ordering — for fine dining service
Table transfer — move orders between tables easily
